Popped into the RCA Kensington today to have at look at this years show, Amazing collection of work, obviously - as an automotive design graduate my main focus was the vehicle design stuff but I have an interest in everything and I have to be honest the Architecture work blew my mind. I wish I had got to spend more time there and actually take some decent pictures. Talented -inspiring - people.
Of course the standard of work at the college is brilliant (I've jotted down some names and will be revisiting their work, It was all too much for me to take in after a heavy weekend drinking /stag do - Brighton) but here are some stand outs for me today:
James Hughes - Bank of England Score Study
Wendy Smith - Olympic Legacy 2034 project.
I love architecture but I'd never been to an architecture graduation show before, not this standard. The ideas, their visions for possible future scenarios are truly impressive and inspiring. I could have spent all day there, these guys have a wall each of research, models and prints, which are artworks in themselves.
Vehicle Design - Unfair to pick out again all the work was outstanding, but here are the two that stood out for me initially.
Lena Knab - Pure Light, Beautiful magnetic levitating concept, great model and her thesis(presentation book) to accompany this project was pure art, lovely graphic design.
Its all inspired me to get doodling again.
